About me

A portrait of you.

Introduction

I've spent 20+ years building products across education, healthcare, and AI, working with both scrappy startups and established enterprise companies serving B2B and B2C markets. My work sits at the intersection of complex problems and elegant solutions.

I was the first design hire at Instructure, where I helped grow Canvas into the #1 learning management system in North America. When we went public, I got to be on the floor of the NYSE while our CEO rang the bell —a pretty surreal moment for a guy who just wanted to make software that didn't suck.

What drives me is the challenge of taking complex problems and simplifying them. I love talking to people, understanding what makes their work frustrating, and crafting solutions that genuinely make their days easier.

Interests and hobbies

When I'm not working, you'll find me mountain biking or snowboarding in the backcountry around Salt Lake City. It's why I live here—and honestly, the mountains are where I do some of my best thinking.

When I'm not working, you'll probably find me out mountain biking or snowboarding in the backcountry. It's why I call Salt Lake City my home. When I’m struggling to find an answer to a difficult problem, outdoors is where I do my best thinking.
